IRIS is the spine of compliance work in the UK accountancy profession. The wider IRIS Software Group supports more than 24,000 practices, including 425 of the UK's Top 500 accountancy firms; IRIS Elements, the cloud-native rebuild of the suite introduced in the early 2020s, reports more than 10,000 practices actively using the platform as of 2026, with the Elements Enterprise variant launched in late 2024 for larger firms with complex client books. For statutory accounts production under FRS 102 / FRS 105 with iXBRL tagging for Companies House, IRIS Accounts Production remains the category default.
The product's positioning is compliance-first, not agentic-first. Where Karbon leads with email-AI and TaxDome with client-portal workflow, IRIS leads with coverage — an iXBRL-tagged accounts pack, a CT600, a self-assessment return, AML checks, and Companies House e-filing all running from one client record. The agentic overlay arrived in 2024–2025 via IRIS AI, which drafts accounts-production commentary and flags Companies House filing anomalies; the cautious user posture on full automation is the right one for a regulated output that the firm signs.
IRIS's main structural risk is that the UK's mid-tier practice-management race has become a three-way contest with BrightManager and AccountancyManager; the answer has been IRIS Elements' modular licensing, which lets a firm buy only the pieces it needs and grow into the suite, and its 2021 acquisition of Senta for cloud practice-management DNA.
