03Research

Fieldguide is the most convincing US play in the audit-and-advisory engagement-platform category — a purpose-built agentic layer for the kind of work that PCAOB inspections are now focusing on. The February 2026 Series C led by Goldman Sachs Growth Equity (with Bessemer, 8VC, and Thomson Reuters) took total raised to $125M at a reported $700M valuation. Deployment is disclosed at roughly half of the US Top 100 firms, with a co-engineered assurance product announced alongside KPMG.

The autonomy posture here is deliberately lower than one would expect from the cap table: audit is an accuracy-sensitive, evidence-trail-sensitive workflow, and Fieldguide positions itself as "agentic when it counts" — automating the control-testing, workpaper-assembly, and review-trail steps without taking unilateral action over a client's records. That is the right posture for a product whose buyers are audit partners who sign their names to opinions. The buy case against DataSnipper and MindBridge is the engagement-workflow depth Fieldguide has that analytics-first tools don't.
